I have many pictures of our beloved Diamond T, which was not only our work truck but also our family transportation until I got a car in 1951. does any one know what year model this truck might be.I dont have any photos so i'll have to describe it. it looks to be late 20s to mid 30s has what looks to be air intake vents on the lower sides of the engine cowl that ducts air to a hole in the door support pillar, bonnet is a two piece center fold (like bat wings)it has a larger thicker type grill with a support that goes from light to light.it has no roof or used to be vinyl with 2 steel sections front and rear at corners. A flat top moter, one single rear window and shortish type side windows, has what looked to be 2 gauges in center of dash and probably about 4-5 ton rating is right hand drive.if any one could help it would be greatly appreciated.contact is melissanixon@bigpond.com thanks.'39 1 1/2 ton all original

1936 Diamond T pickup
My brother and I are the proud owners of a Diamond T pickup. It was purchased and driven off the showroom floor by our late father. The Diamond T was used by our grandfather's company to haul dynamite and nitroglycerine in the oil fields of California. After the company was sold, my father bought the truck, and we have had it ever since. A couple of years ago, we had it refirbished to as close to its original state as possible.Originally, the company purchased two Diamond Ts. I have been told that one was the deluxe and the other standard. One of the trucks was involved in an accident, and we still have some of the original parts. I would be happy to communicate with any other Diamond T pick up owners. Boyd's daughter History

In 1905 Charles Tilt formed the Diamond T Motor car Company of Chicago . During the first 6 years, custom built passenger cars were manufactured by hand in the rear of a small one story garage. Diamond T switched exclusively to building trucks, discontinuing its passenger line in 1911. His truck production prospered beyond belief. In the late 20,s with a desire for increased truck speed, Charles started streamlining the trucks. He repowered with the faster 6 cylinder engines, air cushioned pneumatic tires. Simultaneously he marketed nation wide and later world wide through a dealer-distributing organization an innovation at that time. These dealerships led to company growth as exemplified by the production of more than 50,000 heavy duty military vehicles for our armies in World War Two. Diamond T was responsible for many advances in truck design. These include the fin and tube radiator, the adoption of 7 bearing 6 cylinder truck engines, 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, fully enclosed deluxe cabs, and hydraulic shock absorbers as standard equipment for heavy duty trucks. In 1958 Diamond T was purchased by White Motor Corporation and became a division of White. It continued to be a leader in truck design.
